Democratic in Rhetoric, Not Practice

IBT leadership campaigned on being guided by direct pilot input and accountable to the membership. That promise now appears conditional—embraced only when pilot voices align with leadership’s preferred outcome and resisted when they do not.

More than 2,100 pilots are entitled to a democratic choice in their representation. Efforts to suppress debate, restrict access to information, or delay a vote are not procedural tactics — they are contradictions of the very pilot-driven principles the IBT claims to champion. You cannot claim to stand for pilot democracy while actively working to prevent pilots from exercising it.

The issue is simple: Allegiant pilots have the right to choose their representation.

If the IBT truly believes it is the best option for this pilot group, it should welcome a vote—not resist one. Confidence in representation is demonstrated at the ballot box, not by limiting debate or attempting to prevent pilots from hearing both sides.

More than 2,100 professionals deserve the opportunity to make their own decision. A union that is secure in its performance does not fear a democratic choice.
